Jayhawk Tennis Center offers two routes for junior players: a competitive and a high performance pathway. While the competitive pathway is excellent for most players who are looking to play on their school teams or simply develop a love of the game that can last a lifetime, our Jayhawk Tennis Academy offers players an opportunity to reach the highest levels of the game, competing in USTA, UTR, and ITF events in and around the country. Many of our groups have overlapping drill times, which we use to offer a wider variety of hitting partners for all ages, as well as to create a more cohesive, mentor-based program. And, since no two players are the same, we offer many training options for players to attend as they work towards their individual goals.

Full-time Academy

Top tennis players train technically, physically, and mentally, and our full-time Academy program covers all of those needs. With up to 20 hours of training offered per week, we address technical and strategic needs, while also incorporating daily fitness and mental skills work into our regimen. We offer standard programming on Monday-Thursday from 3-7, Friday from 3-5, and Saturday from 12-2.

Note – Many of our players have a homeschool or flexible private/public school schedule that allows them to attend during the morning or early afternoon, so we routinely create schedules to suit their needs. Likewise, players coming in from other areas of the country have individualized training schedules created, often on weekends in order to fit their school requirements.

High Performance

Because most of our players have traditional school schedules, we offer one of the most comprehensive after school High Performance programs in the Missouri Valley. This group meets Monday-Thursday from 5-7, and Saturday from 12-2, often combining with players from our full-time Academy and Early High Performance. The majority of these players have a focus on the strategic needs of match play, with most of the technical work coming in separately scheduled individual lessons. Also, many choose to supplement their hitting routines by coming in an hour early to join the full-time Academy in fitness and/or mental skills sessions.

Early High Performance

Our young players are one of the major focal points of Jayhawk Tennis Academy, and we strive to offer them as much court time as other elite juniors around the country. They also meet Monday-Thursday from 5-7, and Saturday from 12-2, often combining with players from our full-time Academy and High Performance groups during live ball portions of the drill, while having a more age/level appropriate focus during technical or strategical instruction. As with the older High Performance players, much of the technical work is done in individual lessons.

Players signed up for Early High Performance or High Performance will be approved by Coach Jared.
