Jayhawk Tennis Center offers two routes for junior players: a competitive and a high performance pathway. While the competitive pathway is excellent for most players who are looking to play on their school teams or simply develop a love of the game that can last a lifetime, our Jayhawk Tennis Academy offers players an opportunity to reach the highest levels of the game, competing in USTA, UTR, and ITF events in and around the country. Many of our groups have overlapping drill times, which we use to offer a wider variety of hitting partners for all ages, as well as to create a more cohesive, mentor-based program. And, since no two players are the same, we offer many training options for players to attend as they work towards their individual goals.

Full-time Academy
Top tennis players train technically, physically, and mentally, and our full-time Academy program covers all of those needs. With up to 20 hours of training offered per week, we address technical and strategic needs, while also incorporating daily fitness and mental skills work into our regimen.
During the school year, we offer standard afternoon programming on Monday-Thursday from 1-5pm, Friday from 1-3pm. We also offer schedules to suit the needs of our home school or flexible private/public shcool players. Likewise, players coming in from other areas of the country may have individualized training schedules created, often on weekends in order to fit their school requirements.
During June, July and August, we have programming 12-4pm Monday – Thursday and Friday 9-11am. Friday programming can vary depending on tournament activity. This summer will feature yoga on Monday and Wednesday, while the Tuesday/Thursday fitness sessions will be run by Evolution Athletics at our facility.
Players wishing to join Full Time Academy need approval. Contact Coach Jared Ward at jward@jayhawktennis.com
High Performance
Our High Performance segment of the Academy is geared towards players competing at the high school and L4-6 USTA events. Often combining with players from our Full-time Academy and Early High Performance, the majority of these players focus on the strategic needs of match play, with most of the technical work coming in separately scheduled individual lessons. Also, many choose to supplement their hitting routines by coming in an hour early to join the full-time Academy in fitness and/or mental skills sessions.
Because most of our players have traditional school schedules, we offer one of the most comprehensive after school High Performance program in the Missouri Valley. This group meets Monday-Thursday from 4 or 5-7pm, and Saturday from 12-2pm, often combining with players from our Full-time Academy and Early High Performance.
During June, July, and August, we offer afternoon programming 1-4pm Monday – Thursday and 9-11am Friday. This summer will feature yoga on Monday and Wednesday, while the Tuesday/Thursday fitness sessions will be run by Evolution Athletics at our facility.
Early High Performance
Our young players are one of the major focal points of Jayhawk Tennis Academy, and we strive to offer them as much court time as other elite juniors around the country. This group of players receive age/level appropriate focus during technical or strategical instruction as well as opportunity to combine with players from our High Performance groups during live ball portions of the drill. As with the older High Performance players, much of the technical work is done in individual lessons.
Being a major focal point of our Academy, we consider each player who is just entering into the Early high Performance group and work with parents to determine the best schedule for their player(s). They are scheduled to meet Tuesdays and Thursday from 5-7pm and Saturday from 12-2pm during the school year.
During June, July, and August, we offer afternoon programming 1-3pm Monday – Thursday and 9-11am Friday.
Players signed up for Early High Performance or High Performance will be approved by Coach Jared.
