Jayhawk Tennis Center began in 2006 as a Kansas Athletics, Inc. investment to support the University of Kansas’ (“KU”) intercollegiate tennis winning history. Its original name was the Jayhawk Tennis Facility and it resided in a space with other gym facilities and limited tennis courts. In 2015, Kansas Athletics made the $9 million investment to build a dedicated building. In 2017, KU Women Tennis team played for the first time in their new home.
“We are so excited not only for our KU tennis team, but also for people in our community that will have access to play and participate in programming year round…The Jayhawk Tennis Center is the only Kansas Athletics facility that is open all year for public play, so we are very grateful for having such a unique situation and I know the tennis community here feels the same way.” General Manager Kyle Markham.
Being a Premier Facility of the USTA means that we employ certified teaching professionals and are compliant with the USTA’s Safe Play program. Additionally, being a Premier facility means we offer a wide array of tennis programming including introductory, instructional and social programs, as well as meet general facility standards.
We were thrilled to receive this recognition and will do our best to uphold the USTA’s expectations!
