HIGH PERFORMANCE
Our High Performance program is designed for players who want to reach their fullest potential. Drills, individual lessons, and tournaments are all part of a High Performance player’s routine. Likewise, Mental Skills and offcourt fitness are necessary components of any serious training regiment. At JTC we offer 3 different paths for players of this mindset:
Early High Performance
This group is generally in the 7-11 age range. Our 7-9 year olds generally compete in Orange ball divisions at Junior Circuit events. At 9-11 years they are competing in Green ball divisions, at either Junior Circuit or USTA L7 tournaments. While the intensity may be a little different than their 12 and older counterparts, these players need to be developing a similar skillset – technically, physically, and (perhaps most importantly) emotionally.
Evening Program
For the typical public school player, our evening drills are the best fit. They meet twice during the week, and then also have a Saturday session. In addition, most of these players add a minimum of one individual lesson in order to reach 4-5 days of training per week. Technical skills are developed to a broader extent during drills, and then honed in specifically for each player during their individual time. Mental Skills are generally addressed during the course of drill time, and the same goes for physical fitness and conditioning.
Daytime Program
Some players are either homeschooled or have flexible private/public school schedules. These players have the opportunity to attend our daytime drills, which meet from 1-5 Monday through Friday. (Note: Most younger players attend the 1-3 drill time at first, and are also given a 3-day option.) Technical skills are developed during drills and individual lesson time, while Mental Skills and Fitness are both given dedicated time slots. This is our highest level of Early High Performance programming, and is meant for players who are looking to develop a foundation to compete at the highest levels of junior tennis… and beyond.
High Performance
This is our middle and high school age group of tournament players. While there is a range of commitment and skill level, all of them are competing at either a school or USTA level (often both). All of these players are continuing to refine technical aspects of their games, in addition to improving Mental Skills and overall fitness and conditioning.
Evening Program
Since most of our players attend public school, our evening drills are the only option. They are offered 4 times during the week, and then also have a Saturday session, with most attending between 3-5 days.
This is our flagship program at Jayhawk Tennis Center, with players training 1-5 Monday through Friday, and usually adding at least one individual lesson per week. Technical skills are developed during drills and individual lesson time, while Mental Skills and Fitness are both given dedicated time slots. This is our highest level of programming, and is meant for players who are looking to reach their own personal peaks. Most players are traveling at least sectionally (many nationally), and all have a desire to further their games at the collegiate level… and beyond.
